Says Aussies Have Strong Community Spirit

Acting PM Swan was offering his opinion with the events after the occurrence of a series of weather-related disturbances last summer. In this year’s final economic address, he observed that a lot of lessons “have been learned from last summer”.

The country’s capital Queensland was pummeled by a series of floods and cyclones which resulted to extensive damage on its eastern seaboard.

According to Swan, last summer proved the presence of a strong community spirit among Australians saying that the generosity and sturdy community spirit of Aussies proved crucial in rebuilding disaster areas and preparing the whole country for the eventual recurrence of extreme weather phenomena.

Said Swan, the high level of cooperation among Australians has fueled the government to do its best for the country to be well-prepared. ”Authorities in all states are working hard to make sure our communities are well prepared for the worst nature can throw at us,” he emphasized.

The government has, for the previous months, undertaken efforts to improve planning and building guidelines, created more precise and all-inclusive flood maps, and improved flood insurance to be more effective and simple.
